Domestic abuse is defined as controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour between partners or family members who are aged over 16. It can include physical vi­olence as well as threats and emotional, sexual or financial abuse. Living with this form of abuse affects children of all ages. They may be frightened and confused and this may have an impact upon their health as well as their behaviour both at home and school.
